Nisha Puntambekar, MPH

Nisha Puntambekar, MPH

Nisha Puntambekar is a Research Associate at The George Washington University School of Public Health and Health Services in the Department of Health Policy. Her research focuses on issues relating to global health security with a specific focus on implementation of the International Health Regulations (2005). She has spent time overseas in India assessing clinical capabilities, and in the eastern Caribbean region (Martinique and St. Lucia) studying infectious disease surveillance. Prior to joining the GW team, she worked for the American Red Cross, PhRMA, and at the NIH. She has an MPH in Global Health Policy from The George Washington University, and a BA in Anthropology and Biology from the University of Rochester.

Nisha grew up in New England and her parents recently moved away from the cold to sunny California. She has a younger sister who also lives in DC and currently attending law school. Outside of work to relax and unwind, Nisha enjoys reading, quilting, and baking, and to stay active, she enjoys hiking, alpine skiing, running, and weight training.
