Heart Disease in Women; Congestive Heart Failure Management

Geetha moved from India to the United States for college. She attended Texas Tech University in Lubbock, Texas where she majored in Biochemistry and minored in Biology graduating Suma cum Laude. She completed her medical school training at The University of Texas in San Antonio where she was nominated a member to the Alpha Omega Alpha (AOA) Society for graduating with honors from medical school. While in medical school she was inspired by the doctors who taught her cardiology and decided she wanted to be a cardiologist as well. To achieve this goal she moved to New York City to do her residency in Internal Medicine at Columbia University where she was awarded the Professionalism in Medicine Award. She then moved to Washington D.C. for her cardiology training at Georgetown University and Washington Hospital Center. She fell in love with the area and decided to stay on to practice cardiology. She now practices as a cardiologist with Cardiac Associates whose offices are located in Rockville, Germantown, Olney, and Laurel. Her interests in cardiology include heart disease in women and congestive heart failure management.

For fun, Geetha likes to read and travel. Her favorite books to read are biographies about people who changed the world. She finds biographies about successful women most inspiring. Her most favorite travel experience was a backpacking trip to Florence, Italy where she experienced some of the world’s most amazing art and architecture. She is now looking forward to learning about her new neighborhood in Darnestown, MD.
