Troy holds a special position as the only male member of Lady Docs.  He impressed Thu by training her for her third marathon preparing her for a strong finish, and later coaching her for the running and biking legs of a triathlon.

Troy studied fitness and coaching at Saddleback Community College in California and St. Cloud State University in Minnesota.  He trained at the University of Southern California Power Clinics and holds certifications in Personal Training from the National Academy of Sports Medicine and the American Council on Exercise.

He has been a Certified Personal Trainer since 2001 and currently works at Rio Sport and Health and owns and operates Troy’s Total Training, LLC, running Fit Camps and doing home personal training. He worked in out-patient physical therapy from 1995-2006 in southern California and previously was a Fitness Director, Personal Trainer and Group Exercise Instructor for a fitness company in California.  Prior to that, he served in the US Army for 5 years.  His main duty was as a Pershing Nuclear Missile Crewman and then as a Top Secret Admin Clerk in Oklahoma and Germany.

He has many interests in his field, including functional training, which focuses on the daily needs of the client; helping in preparation and recovery from surgery in conjunction with the therapist; partner/group sessions focused on strength, toning and weight loss; core/pillar strength and stability; and youth weight loss and youth athletics.

He has two athletic sons, which has allowed him to use his skills from his own days of competitive softball and basketball, to coach his sons’ Select baseball and basketball teams in Damascus, Maryland.  He loves being a fan during football season, but sneaks in some coaching there, too, when he can.

He lives with his lovely wife of 16 years, and his 10 and 13 year-old sons.  He loves exploring all this area has to offer, making his house into a warm family home, and going on cool date nights with his wife.  We feel fortunate that he has time for us Lady Docs!
