Enjoying a Meal and Thanksliving

A wise person once said, “We should think of Thanksgiving as Thanksliving”.  If all of us collectively live a life of being thankful, and with a sense of gratitude, I am sure it will lead to more inner harmony and peace.


Thanksgiving is that beautiful time of the year when we experience crisp fall weather, see bright colors and piles of raked leaves that children love to jump on to.   On many a cool evening, we may get a whiff of a warm wooden fireplace that transports us immediately to the cozy confines of home, with a throw and a hot beverage in our hands.  


As the days grow shorter and the temperature drops, we begin to spend more days indoors with family, friends and other loved ones (aka pets).  We have holiday gatherings, catch up with each other to discuss the various happenings in our lives.   It is important to be mindful of what we eat during these times and focus on eating healthy and nutritious food. 


Over the years, Dr. Marsha Seidelman has graciously shared with us various amazing recipes that does not compromise on taste, and yet are packed with nutrients and goodness.

THANKS Aruna - to you and all our Lady Doc contributors and friends and to all of our readers.  I visited Walter Reed last week and would like to say an extra special thank you to all of our veterans and active duty personnel and their families.  You devote your lives to keep the rest of us safe and we often take that for granted.

As we celebrate this season, starting this weekend and going forward, our gatherings usually focus on eating!  It is easy to consume thousands of calories on Thanksgiving - and on the days following if you're lucky enough to have leftovers.  Since I love sweet potatoes, it doesn't surprise me that there are close to a dozen sweet potato recipes on the site.  These are a few of them, plus a suggestions for dinner for one, a lentil dish that can serve as a main course for your vegetarian guests and a stir fry to use up your extra turkey.  Enjoy in a way that keeps you feeling well in the days ahead!
